I have been to this Hương Sen restaurant a few times. Today, my friend and I came here for a late lunch. Their food always tastes so good. I like their ginger lemongrass cold tea drink; it's so refreshing. The restaurant is very small and cozy, but it has beautiful decorations and a temple interior design. Their service is always good. The owner is a very nice person. I would definitely recommend that everyone come here to try out their vegetarian dishes. You won't be disappointed.
DELICIOUS Vegetarian restaurant Small, but cute and cozy place. Service was great! Everything ordered was DELICIOUS
The food reminds me of temple food, where the food is made and served by priests. If you ever have a chance to be invited to a meal served by the priest, take it. The is truly the next best. I highly recommend the Mango Salad, with juliennes of carrots, mango, cucumber with bits of red peppers, egg plants and chopped bay leaves and wonton wrapper flakes. Use the shrimp crackers to scoop the salad into your mouth. Yummy!. The other dish was the Canh Chua or Sweet and Sour Soup. The soup was full of bean sprouts, button mushrooms, tomatoes, celery, tofu and okra. The traditional way to devour this soup is to pour a portion into a smaller bowl and add white rice. The broth was yummy. The service was attentive and the restaurant was quiet, a pleasant place to sit and enjoy your meal. I would definitely return.
Delicious vegetarian options are in abundance here, but meat is not. Every single item on the menu here is vegetarian, but if you eat meat, you won't miss it given how flavorful and fresh the food is. I do have to mention that one could be misled with how some of the dishes are named: for example, they have a dish called Heo Quay Kho Ngũ Vị (Five Spices Roasted Pork), but it is actually an (excellent) tofu dish meant to imitate pork. There's no indication in either the Vietnamese or English name that this is imitation pork rather than real pork. Since this restaurant does explicitly label themselves as a Vegetarian restaurant, that might be obvious to most. But I think it would be helpful to label the imitation dishes as such to make it more clear for those who may not know. I came here with a big group of friends so I was able to try plenty of things. My favorites were the Mango Salad and the Five Spices Roasted Pork, and even though I ate A LOT, I didn't walk out feeling bloated or heavy. Service is friendly, the zen interior design of the restaurant is cute and photogenic, and there's plenty of parking. This restaurant is in Bellaire, and even though it's a bit further down the road from Chinatown, it is well worth the drive. Ambiance: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5
Always on a look out for a good vegetarian place cause my parents are vegetarian and I have a few friends that love vegetarian food as well! Came across Huong Sen on IG and decided to check them out! Boy were they way out there! I don't think I've ventured this deep into Bellaire before! Ample parking, and restaurant was fairly nice... not huge but not super tiny either! They had a lotus flower display that the kiddos loved! The menu was small but lots to choose from! I've been looking for a good mango salad and this one was delicious! Came with rice crackers and a vegan fish sauce and lots of herbs! Super refreshing! The spring rolls were also fantastic! They have things like eggroll vermicelli, vegan eggrolls, vegan pork and vegan lemongrass chicken, as well as a tamarind soup! I loved the sauce in the lemongrass chicken, and my friend loved the roasted pork dish, though I didn't like the texture as much. I wish the lemongrass chicken had more lemongrass and was slightly a little less sweet! Mushroom salad was on the sweet side as well. Kids loved the mushroom pho! Overall, great vegetarian food.. alright service, I think they were a bit overwhelmed by how crowded it was.. but good price for everything we ordered! Will take my parents next time they visit!
